The Plaza: A Place Where Traders and Trails Met

The Plaza: A Place Where Traders and Trails Met

August 06, 2018

With people converging on this Southwest City from the eastern states, California and deep-south Mexico, Santa Fe established itself as a cultural hub of diversity. The Plaza became, and remains today, the center of the city’s activity. Grab a bench in the beautiful, historic space and kick back with a book. Or, slip back in time as you take in the food vendors, street performers, and skateboarders moving around you. When you’re ready to move along, make your way to the north side where the Palace of the Governors—a National Historic Landmark and museum—has stood since 1610. Here, at the oldest continuously operating government building in the states, peruse pottery from Pueblo Indians and truly walk in the step of Santa Fe’s founders.
