Day Trip to Hot Springs

Day Trip to Hot Springs

January 06, 2020

Self-care is not just a trend—it’s a wise way to start off a new decade. For your winter getaway in Santa Fe, consider a day trip that will have you soothing your mind and body.

About an hour and a half away, you’ll find a natural wonder where it’s easy to spend an entire day. Jemez Springs is an area of New Mexico that is abundant in natural hot springs which derive from a supervolcano located in the Valles Caldera National Preserve, just 17 miles north. Go for a hike and reward yourself with a soak, or even just a meditative moment by a waterfall. The hot springs are best enjoyed in wintertime, but make sure you bring plenty of layers to warm up once you get out of the water.

Of the springs present at Jemez, San Antonio Hot Springs offers one of the most scenic ambiances, with views of the pine trees cascading down a slope beneath the pools. There are also commercial hot springs, spas, and bathhouses located in Jemez Springs, for a more controlled soaking environment.
