A Santa Fe Christmas Celebration

A Santa Fe Christmas Celebration

December 03, 2018

Kick it all off at the annual Christmas at the Palace. The oldest continuously used government building in the U.S. lights up for the season and invited locals and tourists alike. Tour the rooms and enjoy the holiday treats—hot drinks, New Mexico’s state cookie biscochitos (a small anise and cinnamon flavored shortbread cookie) Santa Claus, piñatas and more. Then, one week later, start at the Palace and join the crowds for Las Posadas. The traditional candlelight procession serves as a progressive reenactment of Joseph and Mary’s plight to find lodging. Crowds converge at the Palace after for a warm-up of hot cider and biscochitos. The whole city seems to turn out for the Christmas Eve Canyon Road Farolito Walk. The weather may be cool but the festivities warm up as people walk the lit streets, hot chocolate in hand, spontaneously singing carols.
